Sattu or Roasted gram is One of the highly nutritional foods. It can be taken as the Sattu drink or sarbat, salted or sweet. Desi Chana Sattu is also used in making Sattu Paratha or Litti (Bati- as known in Eastern UP). Our Sattu is made from the naturally grown desi kala chana sourced from Bihar and MP. Kala Chana as a food has been mentioned in our ancient history. Childhood friend of Lord Krishna, Sudama used to carry roasted gram in the potali (cloth wrapper) while they went to pick woods in the jungle. So, in many other folklores like Mughal emperor Shahjahan was also very fond of black gram or Kala chana.
